A Message from Anthony B. Cooper

To All, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank everyone for their volunteer efforts in working at the Smith Family Cemetery. It is now time to turn this project over to a new organizer as I am relocating to Columbus, Georgia. As some of you may or may not know, I accepted a position as the Chief of Public Safety at the Columbus Airport in November 2011 and have been commuting on the weekends. With my 85 year old mother living there it really has been a blessing as I have been able to help take care of her during the week while I am in Columbus. We were fortunate enough to sell our home and will always have fond memories of the work we completed at the Cemetery. There is still work to be done and hopefully Marc Byrd and the Riverbend Plantation Management will work with the new organizer in providing the equipment necessary to lift and reset the markers. We should all take pride in the fact that we in Riverbend Plantation have such a historical site within the subdivision. Having a Houston County pioneer born in 1773 and a Civil War Grave on this site only adds to the uniqueness of Riverbend Plantation. Thanks again for all your help, Anthony B.
